1st QUEBEC ANNUAL UNDERGRADUATE SECURITY CONFERENCE

 

Call for Paper

The International Security in the Globalization Era (ISGE) Project is currently calling for proposals from undergraduate students as part of the Quebec’s First Annual Security Conference for Undergraduate Students.

The ISGE project unites researchers from McGill University, Université de Montréal, and Bishop’s University to examine the effects of globalization on international security and the security functions of the nation-state in different regions of the world.

This day-long conference aims to provide advanced undergraduate students a platform to share their ideas and research findings in the field of international security.

This day-long conference will gather advanced undergraduate students to present their work/research on international security issues and to provide them with an opportunity to network with peers, professors and experts in the field. The conference will take place at Bishop’s University on Saturday February 24th 2018.

This year, the conference will be focusing on the following themes:

  1. Institutions and the Accommodation of Rising Powers;
  2. Geopolitical Decline and International Institutions;
  3. The New Security Agenda of the United Nations;
  4. Challenges to Regional Institutional Architecture.

Students who wish to participate to the conference are required to submit a 300-400 words abstract in English or French focused on one of the four topics above to [email protected] before November 15th 2017.   

  • Students whose proposals are approved by the ISGE project will be then informed by December 15th 2017 to proceed with the completion of their paper.
  • The full research paper will be expected before February 1st The full research papers are to be 3500-4000 words.

Two-Hundred Canadian Dollars will be awarded to the best 4 papers selected at the end of the conference, and two of the winning papers will also be published in the McGill International Review for extensive exposure. The McGill International Review is a student-run, international affairs-focused undergraduate journal known both in Québec and across Canada.
