Undergraduate Security Conference

The Quebec Undergraduate Security Conference (QUSC) is organized as part of the International Security in the Globalization Era (ISGE) project, which unites high-profile practitioners and scholars in the field of international security studies with students from Quebec Universities — Bishop’s University, McGill University, Université de Montréal, Université de Sherbrooke, Concordia University, and Université Laval. The conference examines the effects of globalization on international security and the security functions of the nation-state in different regions of the world. QUEBEC ANNUAL UNDERGRADUATE SECURITY CONFERENCE 2022

Call for Paper

Organized by Bishop’s University and the Centre for Security and Crisis Governance (CRITIC) of the Royal Military College St. Jean, and supported by the Network for Strategic Analysis (NSA) and the International Security in the Globalization Era (ISGE), the Quebec Undergraduate Security Conference (QUSC) is currently calling for proposals from undergraduate students as part of the fifth Annual Security Conference for Undergraduate Students.

This conference aims to provide undergraduate students a platform to present their research, in English or in French, to high-profile practitioners and scholars in the field of International Security, as well as enable them with an opportunity to network with peers, professors, and experts in the field. The conference will take place at Bishop’s University on Saturday, February 5, 2022.

This year, the conference will be focusing on the following four themes (RAS-Topics-more details in the conference themes document):

  1. Climate and Environment Security
  2. Gender, Peace, and Security
  3. Globalization, Technology, and International Security
  4. The Implications of COVID-19 on Peace and Security

Students who wish to participate to the conference are required to submit a 300-400-word abstract in English or French focused on one of the four topics above to QUSC-BU@gmail.com before December 16, 2021. Students whose abstracts are approved by the QUSC project will be then informed by December 21, 2021, to proceed with the completion of their paper. The full research paper will be expected before January 25, 2022, and is to be at a minimum of 3,000 words.

A 100$ prize will be awarded to each of the best four papers selected at the end of the conference. Winners’ papers will also be published on the website of the NSA. In addition, each student will receive a participation certificate. Financial support for transportation and accommodation will be provided.

5ème éd. du Colloque Québécois sur la Sécurité Internationale des Étudiants au Premier Cycle

Organisé par l’Université Bishop’s et le Centre sur la gouvernance sécuritaire et deCrise (CRITIC) du Collège militaire royal de Saint-Jean et avec le soutien du groupe de recherche International Security in the Globalization Era (ISGE) et celui du Réseau d’analyse stratégique (RAS), le Colloque Québécois sur la Sécurité Internationale (QUSC) destiné aux étudiant(e)s de premier cycle lance son appel aux communications!

Ce colloque d’une journée vise à offrir une tribune aux étudiant(e)s au baccalauréat afin de présenter les résultats de leurs recherches, interagir avec des chercheurs et experts et élargir leurs réseaux avec d’autres étudiant(e)s, professeur(e)s et professionnels qui oeuvrent dans le domaine de la sécurité internationale. L’événement aura lieu le samedi 5 février sur le campus l’Université Bishop’s.

Cette année, le colloque est divisé en 4 panels qui porteront sur l’un des thèmes suivants (PDF):

  1. Climat et sécurité environnementale
  2. Mondialisation, technologie et sécurité internationale
  3. Genre, paix et sécurité
  4. Les implications du COVID-19 sur la paix et la sécurité

Les étudiant(e)s sont invité(e)s à soumettre un résumé de 300 à 400 mots, en français ou en anglais, sur l’un des quatre thèmes à l’adresse courriel suivante: QUSC-BU@gmail.com avant le 16 décembre 2021.

Les résultats de la sélection seront dévoilés le 21 décembre 2021. Les candidats auront jusqu’au 25 janvier 2022 pour compléter un texte d’environ 3000 mots. Chaque panel sera présidé par un expert lié au thème.

Un prix de 100 $ sera remis pour chacun des quatre travaux qui seront jugés les meilleurs au terme de la journée. Les textes des récipiendaires seront également publiés sur le site du RAS. De plus, chaque étudiant recevra une attestation de participation. Du soutien pour les frais de logement et de transport pour la journée de la conférence sera fourni.
